Maharshi Dayananda Saraswati
Maharshi Dayananda Saraswati (1824–1883), the founder of Arya Samaj, was a visionary spiritual leader, Vedic scholar and social reformer who dedicated his life to reviving the timeless wisdom of the Vedas. His teachings emphasised truth, rational thinking, universal education, equality and freedom from superstition, inspiring a powerful movement for religious and social reform across India.
Through his influential work Satyarth Prakash, Maharshi Dayananda advocated women’s education, social justice and the rejection of caste discrimination based on birth. His call to “Back to the Vedas” encouraged people to rediscover India’s spiritual heritage through knowledge, reason and righteous living. His enduring legacy continues to inspire generations towards self-reliance, national awakening, universal brotherhood and the pursuit of truth.
